The Refugee Crisis

Thank you for all your generous help in donating items of clothing and food for the refugees.

Your donation was taken from The Church of St Philleigh and transported to Wadebridge (see Wadebridge Cornish refugee aid collection on facebook) where it was added to all the other collections from around Cornwall and then sorted by a band of local volunteers. It was then loaded on large vans and driven to Plymouth, where it was loaded into a container for an onward journey to Felixstowe.

From there the containers are sent to the Turkish port, Mersin, and then go to Bab al Hawa on the border to Syria. At this point, One Nation’s partners inside Syria collect the goods, and take them to a warehouse where it gets sorted. Then, smaller vans take the aid to be distributed within the refugee camps inside Syria, and, if safe to do so, to other areas such Aleppo and Lattakia. All the aid gets delivered to the innocent families, widows, and orphans who are suffering.

‘Time for a Spring Clean?’

With eleven million displaced Syrians the need for help is colossal and so we are asking once again for you to make a donation to our local appeal.

On Monday 21st (10.00-12.00) and Tuesday 22nd (2.00-4.00pm) March we are standing by to accept your kind donations (see list of items below) in the church of St Philleigh (next to the Roseland Inn)

You will be made welcome with tea/coffee and cake. If you will have difficulty in getting to us, please email David at davspread@aol.com and we will try and help.

We have so far had a marvellous response with approx 150 large bags of clothing; tents; food and health and hygiene products from people across the Roseland.
